Northampton Signs recently completed bespoke signage in Belfast for Joules at Boucher Retail Park, delivering a combination of illuminated external and internal signage. The project focused on creating a distinctive retail presence that reflected Joules’ established brand identity while complementing its new location within the Next store. Through careful manufacturing, attention to detail and professional installation, we provided signage in Belfast that combines traditional branding with modern illumination.
Exterior Signage in Belfast: Bringing the Joules Brand to Life
The main feature of the project was a striking illuminated fascia sign positioned above the store entrance. Manufactured using marine-grade plywood, the fascia was finished in Joules’ signature eggshell yellow, creating a vibrant backdrop for the brand’s lettering.
The Joules lettering was manufactured from stainless steel with a powder-coated dark blue finish, matching the company’s recognisable colour scheme. Each built-up letter was fitted with LED illumination and an opal acrylic backing, producing a subtle halo glow that enhances the lettering’s visibility.
The letters were carefully raised from the fascia to allow the lighting to illuminate the surrounding surface. Beneath the main lettering, the ‘EST. 1989’ strapline was produced from painted acrylic, completing the design while highlighting the brand’s heritage.
The finished fascia provides a welcoming entrance, ensuring Joules maintains a distinctive identity within the wider retail environment.
Interior Signage in Belfast: Creating a Consistent Brand Experience
To complement the external signage, Northampton Signs also manufactured and installed an illuminated suspended sign inside the store.
The sign was constructed using folded aluminium trays with a powder-coated yellow finish and supported by a bronze-finished framework. The Joules lettering was router-cut from acrylic and incorporated internal LED illumination, providing a bright and consistent appearance.
The brand’s established date was also featured beneath the lettering, maintaining consistency with the external fascia.
Positioned above the retail space, the suspended sign helps customers identify the Joules section while contributing to the store’s overall presentation. Its illuminated lettering creates an attractive focal point that integrates naturally with the interior layout.
Precision Manufacturing and Installation
Delivering this project required careful coordination between the manufacturing and installation stages.
The exterior signage was manufactured in sections to accommodate the shopfront, with particular attention given to ensuring the fascia panels aligned neatly and the built-up lettering was positioned accurately.
Our team also considered the electrical requirements of the illuminated signs, including the positioning of LED drivers and the routing of electrical connections.
For the internal suspended sign, the existing ceiling layout was assessed to determine a suitable installation position. This helped ensure the sign was securely mounted and visually aligned with the surrounding retail space.
By combining in-house fabrication, powder coating, acrylic lettering and LED illumination, Northampton Signs delivered a coordinated signage package that maintained the quality and appearance expected from a recognised retail brand.
